Simple Homemade Ginger Ale Is So Much Better Than Store-Bought

Gather Ingredients:  You'll need fresh ginger, sugar, lemon juice, water, active dry yeast, and sparkling water.

Prepare Ginger: P eel and chop 1 cup of fresh ginger.

Make Ginger Mixture:  Blend the chopped ginger with 1/4 cup water until smooth. Boil the mixture in a saucepan for 10 minutes.

Strain Liquid:  Strain the ginger mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl.

 

Sweeten:  Stir 1 cup of sugar into the ginger liquid until dissolved.

Cool Syrup:  Allow the ginger syrup to cool to room temperature.

Activate Yeast:  Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of active dry yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Combine Ingredients:  In a clean bottle or jar, mix the cooled ginger syrup with the yeast mixture.
